The cloud top temperature is provided based on infrared 10.8 µm wavelength channel data. Colour coding ranging from light grey (-10 °C) to lilac (-100 °C). The "thicker" the clouds, the higher they are and the colder their peaks, resulting in more dangerous meteorological phenomena, such as thunderstorm, showers, hail or squall.
